Callaghan Bingo Collected Donations for Hurricane Harvey VictimsGolden Bingo Family
Callaghan Bingo shipped off donated items to Houston yesterday afternoon in an attempt to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Diapers, pet food, blankets, towels and other supplies were collected by Callaghan Bingo staff and customers. The whole country is coming together to help and President Trump just announced yesterday that he donated 1M dollars to 12 charities to Hurricane Harvey relief.
The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Colorado State University, and the Weather Channel all estimated that this year, we’d likely see more hurricanes than usual spawning in the Atlantic Ocean. NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center forecasted that we’d see between 14 to 19 named storms and five to nine hurricanes this season.
Florida residents are currently evacuating their homes becase Hurricane Irma is headed their way after wreaking havoc through Dominican Republic, Cuba and nearby islands. The Red Cross estimates that 1.2 million people have already been battered by the storm and warned that it poses a serious threat to millions more.
And while we are still bracing for Irma to hit, hurricanes Jose and Katia have already formed and are gathering strenght. The hurricane season ends November 30th and this is an exceptionally rough year.
Our players know that charitable bingo in Texas benefits our local charities. We are proud and honored to be a part of that and we work hard every day knowing that our help is changing people’s lives. Organizing a donation gathering spot like this in Callaghan Bingo was a natural step. We want to motivate our fellow San Antonians to find a charity of their choosing and help however they can. If you are not able to donate money, consider donating your time and voluteer to help those that need us. Let’s turn this into a story of generocity and gratitude.
